Workshops & Events

Kaja has over five years’ experience facilitating creative workshops for community groups and organisations. She is available for one off workshops, as well as long and short-term projects. Kaja specialises in writing about the environment, fantasy, folklore, disability, social justice and mental health.
It is always Kaja’s top priority to create a space that is safe, accessible and inclusive. As someone who is neurodivergent, queer & disabled, Kaja is able to authentically create inclusive spaces by implementing a variety of measures e.g. providing stim toys, encouraging stimming & taking breaks, booking venues with wheelchair-accessible toilets, providing alternative easy-to-read workshop materials and notes, etc. Kaja strives to make storytelling accessible for groups that are underrepresented in the industry.
Kaja has delivered workshops, talks and events for a variety of organisations such as Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales, Inclusive Journalism Cymru, WWF Cymru, Aberystwyth’s Marginalised Writers Day, The Queer Emporium & more.
If you are interested for booking Kaja for a talk, course or workshop then please do get in touch.
“I’ve really enjoyed Kaja’s depth of knowledge and understanding of this topic and how Kaja held this along such a sensitive and thoughtful approach in facilitating the sessions”

Here are some examples of workshops, talks & courses that Kaja has facilitated:

Writing the Environment
In the summer of 2025 Kaja ran a six week nature writing course called ‘Writing the Environment’. This course was created as a way to make nature & environmental writing more accessible and to highlight the different forms that can be utilised to raise awareness of the climate crisis. Each week focused on a different form: Poetry, folklore, essays, fantasy & sci fi, memoir & nature writing. In these workshops Kaja guided participants through exploring example texts, discussing themes, and trying out tailored writing exercises.

“My favourite parts of the course have been the community building aspect – connecting with fellow creatives. Also how accessible it was – being able to come and go as needed, the stim toys, the openness of discussions and the cultivation of a safe space – all of that was invaluable.”

Kaja was able to draw from her knowledge and experience of each genre and topic to help participants craft thoughtful and compelling pieces of writing for the environment. Some of the sessions were ran outside in Bute Park, where Kaja encouraged participants to draw inspiration from the nature around them. Kaja had 18 people sign up for the course. 100% of participants said that they would recommend this course to their friends.
Kaja also organised a celebratory open mic night at Porters at the end of the six weeks where participants were able to share some of the writing that they had developed during the course.
This course was made possible because of the WWF Cymru Community Fund and was hosted at The Canopi, The Sustainable Studio, Cardiff.

Several people contacted Kaja after the course had already started to ask if they could join. Sadly the course was full by this time, but Kaja was so pleased at how much interest this course attracted and would love the chance to run this course again. She is currently on the look-out for more funding to make this possible.
“I haven’t had the opportunity for 20 years (since GCSE English) to explore words and writing like this. It has given me the space and time to explore writing as another tool to raise awareness about the climate crisis.“
“As a scientist we are taught to write in a cold, unexpressive ways and so having the opportunity to write about nature and the environment in a creative way has been inspiring.”
“Kaja was an excellent course leader, creating a warm, safe space for everyone. I even felt confident enough as the course progressed to read my work out to the group – thanks Kaja!”
“Thank you Kaja for opening my eyes to many new ways of looking at environmental writing and for being such an inspirational course leader”

Networking With Neurodivergence

On the 15th of March 2025 Kaja ran and hosted a Neurodivergent Networking event with Inclusive Journalism Cymru. This event was aimed at making networking more accessible for neurodivergent creatives. Kaja interviewed three creatives about how to network. Speakers included Jannat Ahmed (Lucent Dreaming), Rosie Higgins (Unquiet Media) and Sara Robinson (Neurodivergent Friendly Cardiff).
To ensure that the event was accessible, they partnered with Nurologik to create a NuroCove i.e. an adult sensory space that is free for everyone to use throughout the afternoon and evening. This pop-up space included comfortable seating, soft furnishing, items to assist with self-regulation, appropriate lighting solutions and more. Kaja and the IJC team also be attended a training course so that they are more aware about how to meet neurodivergent needs. On top of this – all attendees had the option to be paired with a ‘buddy’ for the entirety of the networking session who would share their interests and who participants could network together with.
Other ways Kaja and IJC made this event accessible included:
- Choosing a venue that was wheelchair accessible
- Providing a free bad of stim toys that also had earplugs and sunglasses for every attendee
- Providing a list of prompts for practical networking
- No glaring lights!
- Made sure participants had the option to share access documents with the team
- Share info on how to get to the venue beforehand
- Live captions
